Ramin Zabihi, M.D. brings over 17 years of valuable experience in clinical gastroenterology and hepatology (the study of the liver and pancreas). His experience is coupled with extensive skills in a variety of endoscopic procedures - including ERCP (a procedure which evaluates the biliary system and pancreas). Dr Zabihi emphasizes preventive medicine and believes that current technology, together with physicians' dedication and patient education, could make colon cancer a disease of the past. He treats his patients as a whole individual, with paying attention to all aspects of their care.
Dr. Zabihi's Professional Qualifications include being Board certified in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Internal Medicine. He is also a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Gastrointestinal Association.
In 1992, he completed his residency and fellowship in gastroenterology at Loyola University in Chicago. Since then, he has been in clinical practice as an attending physician as well as serving as the chairman of the Department of Gastroenterology in Kaiser Permanente and Talbert Medical Group. At these organizations he managed and educated other physicians through a series of lectures and other educational activities. As a researcher, Dr. Zabihi investigated in a novel treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, using free oxygen radical scavenger compounds. He also co-authored a book titled Etiologic Factors in Cancer of The Esophagus.
Dr. Zabihi has lived in Laguna Niguel for the past 10 years with his wife Dr. Leila Ahmadi, O.D. and their three children. He spends his time as both a soccer coach and as a referee and looks after his children as they grow so quickly themselves into a life of their own. His personal studies reflect his interest in the history of civilizations, the arts and classical music.
