About Me
Patrick K. Griffith, M.D., FACS is a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon who specializes in complex coronary, valve & thoracic aortic disease at MemorialCare Heart & Vascular Institute. He also serves as medical director, Adult Cardiac Surgery, MHVI at Saddleback Medical Center.
His clinical interests include valvular & complex coronary artery disease; thoracic aortic disease; cardiac physiology; preventative cardiology; and a minimally invasive surgery (MIVS) approach.
He received his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine, a residency in general surgery at Georgetown University Medical Center followed by second residency in cardiothoracic surgery at University of North Carolina Medical Center at Chapel Hill. Dr. Griffith conducted extensive research on cardiac physiology and transplantation at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) afterwards and pursued his master’s in business from University of California, Irvine - The Paul Merage School of Business. Dr. Griffith is board-certified in cardiothoracic surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
Dr. Griffith previously served as medical director, Heart & Vascular Institute, Adventist Health in Roseville CA and staff surgeon, cardiovascular & thoracic surgery at Kettering Medical Center in Kettering OH. He moved to MHVI at Saddleback Medical Center to champion clinical integration; standardization of clinical practices best practices for minimally invasive surgery; and oversee the STEMI Receiving Center at MHVI Saddleback Medical Center in collaboration with fellow practitioners.
He serves as a board member for the Beall Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the dean’s advisory board for the University of California, Irvine - The Paul Merage School of Business.
Dr. Griffith finds immense satisfaction in witnessing the immediate and positive impact he can have on his patients and their loved ones.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Griffith relishes spending as much time as possible with his wife of 35 years and their two wonderful children. He enjoys reading, meditating, and exercising, including resistance training, aerobic workouts, and martial arts.
