About Me

John N. Bahadorani M.D., F.A.C.C., is a board-certified interventional cardiologist. Interventional cardiology involves the opening of blocked blood vessels with minimally invasive catheter procedures. Dr. Bahadorani treats people with acute myocardial infarction (heart attack), coronary artery disease, heart valve disease, peripheral vascular disease, critical limb ischemia (CLI) and other heart and vascular conditions. He has extensive experience with the insertion of percutaneous ventricular assist devices to support both complex coronary interventions and to treat cardiogenic shock.

Dr. Bahadorani’s clinical expertise also includes aortic valve replacement (TAVR), radial (wrist) artery approaches to coronary angiography, and percutaneous (nonsurgical) treatment of peripheral vascular disease (disease involving the arteries of the legs, arms, and neck) and structural heart disease.

He has both authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts in several medical journals, including the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, Circulation Cardiovascular Interventions, International Journal of Cardiology, the American Journal of Cardiology, and the Journal of Invasive Cardiology.

Dr. Bahadorani is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He is quadruple-board-certified in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology, and internal medicine. Additionally, he has been certified as a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).

Dr. Bahadorani earned his medical degree from University of Texas Medical Branch. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Texas Southwestern-Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas; a perennial top 10 residency program by U.S. News and World report. He then went on to complete a 3-year fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at the Tulane Heart and Vascular Institute in New Orleans, Louisiana. From there, he went on to the University of California San Diego, where he completed a 2-year advanced fellowship in Interventional Cardiology. He obtained extensive training in robotic percutaneous coronary interventions, complex coronary interventions including use of percutaneous left ventricular assist devices, structural heart disease interventions, and specific training in interventions involving chronic total occlusions as well as peripheral endovascular interventions and the management of critical limb ischemia. He has a particular interest in performing limb-salvage percutaneous peripheral intervention in patients who have developed critical limb ischemia.

After completing his training; he became a member of the faculty at the University of California San Diego, where he continued to treat patients, author manuscripts, and teach medical students, residents and cardiology fellows. He joined the South Orange County Cardiology Group in August of 2016.
