About Me

Dr. Floyd Buen received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College with high honors. A Southern California native, he returned and continued to pursue basic science research studying traumatic brain injury at UCLA. He then received his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. While there, he was awarded a Howard Hughes Medical Research Fellowship for work on novel stem cell applications. This was followed by a residency in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at UCLA Medical Center, where he was awarded the prestigious Teaching Award as a chief resident. His most recent research endeavors span a versatile range, including survivorship among head and neck cancer patients, quality improvement of squamous cell carcinoma treatments, and therapeutic communication techniques. 

Dr. Buen's professional interests include head and neck oncology, sinus disorders and allergy, thyroid/parathyroid surgery, salivary gland surgery, and general adult and pediatric otolaryngology.
