About Me
Dr. Spitz was born in Miami Beach, Florida. He grew up on the east coast and attended Cornell University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with Distinctions in All Subjects. He went on to earn his MD from Cornell University Medical College. He completed his Urology residency at the Los Angeles County /University of Southern California Medical Center where he was honored with an appointment to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. Dr Spitz completed a fellowship in Male Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at the Baylor College of Medicine. Dr Spitz is an Associate Professor of Urology at U.C. Irvine Medical Center.
Dr Spitz is a Board Certified Urologist with a broad based general urology practice. From enlarged prostate to kidney stones to urinating disorders, he provides the most up to date, minimally invasive, nutrition sensitive interventions.
Dr Spitz also has specific training and interest in male reproductive medicine. He is highly skilled at performing microsurgical vasectomy reversals. He performs both vaso-vasostomy and vaso-epididymostomy, and he has extensive experience with salvaging previously failed vasectomy reversals. Dr Spitz performs microsurgical varicocele surgery, and he performs sperm retrieval surgery for in-vitro fertility. Even the most severe cases where there are no sperm, such as Klinefelter's syndrome, may be treated.
Dr Spitz is also a nationally recognized expert on vasectomy. He performs no-needle no-scalpel vasectomy, employing the most modern and minimally invasive techniques for male birth control. He is also a recognized expert in the area of male hormone replacement and sexual dysfunction. He provides expert treatment for men suffering from low testosterone, erectile dysfunction, and Peyronie's disease.
Dr. Spitz is the author of several peer reviewed journal articles and chapters regarding treatments for male fertility. He is a frequent media spokesperson on male health issues.
Dr Spitz is actively involved in medical politics, frequently advocating at the national level on behalf of urologists and their patients.
Dr. Spitz, and his wife Sarah, enjoy living in Laguna Beach with their three wonderful sons.
